Albacutya

By Kitt Bennett

On Day 1 of the Silo Art Trail, we just couldn’t fit this stop into our loop, so I made a go of it on Day 2 by myself. This was my number one pick I wanted to see above all other silos, but after many, many hours in the car driving down dirt roads with no service, I was pretty worn out when I got there and disappointed with the shadows casting across the artwork. Unfortunately, like my visit to the Horsham silo, the sun just wasn’t in the right position in the sun for any decent photography.

These silos were completed in May 2021 and depict Kitt Bennett’s memories of growing up in the country. The woman is holding a “yabby”, an Australian crayfish while a youth rides his motorcycle. The colors used are so bright and electric. This was by far the most colorful artwork I saw of all the silos I visited.

  • Side road off Albacutya Rd

  • The road will take a right and cut across the train tracks to a parking area where you can view the silos from across a fence.

  • If you’re planning on droning, beware the tangle of overhead lines surrounding the area.
