Avoca

By Jimmi Buscombe

The Avoca Silo was our first stop of the Silo Art Trail. It was by far the smallest installation I’d picked on the tour and, for that reason, a good one to start the day with. Unfortunately, the coolest feature at Avoca can only be seen at night, so I didn’t have the opportunity to see it on full display.

The first of it’s kind, this silo was painted with strontium paint, creating a glow in the dark effect. Unfortunately, you’ll find that all of the silos are out in the middle of nowhere, so to speak, and driving from dusk to dawn is extremely dangerous. If you’re interested in seeing this silo in all it’s glory, I suggest staying in town for the night.
