Sea Lake

By The Zookeeper &DRAPL

Fourth on the tour, Sea Lake was absolutely breathtaking. We’d been looking forward to seeing one of the bigger installations, and Sea Lake did not disappoint. It was also the first BIG color landscape on the tour. Sea Lake was also the first silos we’d been to that were fenced off so I did get some great drone videos from above, which you can see on my Instagram page.

The Sea Lake silos were a collaboration between two artists, Joel Fergie (The Zookeeper) and Travis Vinson (DRAPL) completed in October 2019. The piece depicts a girl swinging from a Eucalyptus tree looking over Lake Tyrrell. The Indigenous name ‘Tyrille’ means ‘space opening to the sky’. Notice the contrasts of dusk and dawn throughout.

  • There’s a large dirt drive and plenty of space to park and explore, as well as some covered picnic tables.

  • Bring a drone so you can get some good shots as the fence is situated several hundred feet from the silos.
