My second stop on Day 2 and 4th Smug production was this guy in Arkona. I didn’t do my due diligence before visiting and was rather disappointed with the concept. However, after reading more about how Smug likes to spend time with his subjects before painting them, I was touched with his concept for the Arkona silos.
Completed in April 2022, this project is a nod to local tennis legend Roley Klinge. Unfortunately, Klinge had passed in 1991, and so Smug chose to leave the central person invisible. He did slip in some mention of Klinge with a small portrait and mentioning on the watch. Very sweet tribute.
